Award Conditions

Awarded to outstanding racialized and minoritized undergraduate students newly enrolled in the Cinema Studies program. Students are expected to apply for this award in tandem with applying to the Cinema Studies program. Recipients must be in good academic standing (CGPA of 1.50+), must achieve a final mark of at least 70% in CIN105Y1 (or a final mark of at least 70% in CIN201Y1), and must be registered in the upcoming academic year. Strong preference will be given to student applicants who self-identify as Black and Indigenous.

Recipients must self-identify as an Indigenous person in Canada (i.e., First Nations, Inuit and Métis); must be enrolled in the second, third or fourth year of studies in the Faculty of Arts & Science at Innis College and be registered in the current Fall/Winter Session (can be either a returning or a graduating student); and must demonstrate strong academic performance and distinguished Indigenous community-based contributions. Financial need may be considered. Please note that returning students must register in the subsequent fall/winter session to be eligible to receive the award.

To be awarded to an Innis College undergraduate degree student in the Faculty of Arts and Science (FAS). The Wasser Scholarship recognize sustained leadership contributions over several years. All candidates will exhibit the promise of transferring their leadership skills to their community or workplace after graduation. The Scholarships will be awarded to senior year students who have excelled academically and who have made outstanding contributions through their involvement in student life, their voluntary activities, and their service to others. The scholarships will be decided after the winter session of each academic year and non-graduating students will normally be expected to register in the subsequent academic year to be eligible to receive the award. Senior students are students who have completed at least 14.0 credits when decisions on the awards are made. A student is eligible for only one Wasser Scholarship in an undergraduate career.

To be awarded to an Innis College student (full-time or part-time) who has completed at least 13 credits and no more than 17 credits with a 3.5 CGPA and who, in the opinion of the Cinema Studies Institute Director and the Principal of Innis College, shows promise of making a significant contribution to the field. In the event that there is no qualified candidate from Innis College, the award may be made to a qualified candidate from another college. The recipient must register in the Faculty of Arts & Science in the subsequent academic year and be enrolled in the Major or Specialist Program in Cinema Studies. The scholarship may not be awarded to the same candidate more than once.

Eligible students will have completed at least 4.0 credits and be returning to undergraduate study within the University of Toronto.
